In challenging times, underwriting kilowatt hours could be a most welcomed holiday gift
DURANGO, Colo. – To facilitate the “gift of electricity” this holiday season, La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) offers to those wishing to help a friend or relative with their electric bill the opportunity to provide a credit to their LPEA account through LPEA’s Gift Program.
“When economic times become more challenging, we do see an increase in late payments and delinquencies, so we know firsthand that many people are having difficulty with even the most basic of necessities,” said Dennis Svanes, LPEA CFO. “The gift of electricity is definitely one that can be used and appreciated this holiday season.”
LPEA members can also support non-profit organizations with the gift of electricity, allowing these organizations to focus funds on their missions of support in the community.
Gifts of any denomination can be made. To give the gift of “power,” visit LPEA offices in Durango or Pagosa during regular business hours, call 970.247.5786, or mail a check with the name of the LPEA member/non-profit organization, and the account address (or LPEA account number if available), to LPEA Gift Program, PO Box 2750, Durango, Colo., 81302. LPEA will notify the recipient(s), or gifts can be made anonymously.
“This doesn’t need to be something that happens just around the holidays,” added Svanes. “We can make arrangements for regular monthly credits to any account of your choosing. It can be a gift that keeps on giving.”
LPEA, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative established in 1939, provides to its more than 30,000 members, with in excess of 42,000 meters, safe, reliable electricity at the lowest reasonable cost, while being environmentally responsible. For additional information, visit www.lpea.coop.
