Former accounts payable clerk fills position vacated by retiring Brad Pulver
DURANGO, Colo. – Jeannette Simpson has been named billing clerk at La Plata Electric Association (LPEA), assuming the duties of Brad Pulver, who will retire from the cooperative in March 2012. Simpson served formerly as accounts payable clerk.
In her new position, Simpson oversees meter reading/billing for large, industrial accounts, handles Capital Credits accounting as well as the auto and electronic bill pay programs for co-op members, and more.
Originally from Arizona, Simpson studied at Arizona Western College and completed her Associate’s Degree in Accounting at Portland Community College. Following her move to La Plata County, she garnered banking experience at Bank of Colorado before accepting an accounting position with SoundTraxx in Durango.
A Bayfield resident, Simpson joined LPEA in June 2002 as a customer service representative, but moved into an accounting position within a year, and subsequently was appointed to handle accounts payable in 2006.
“Though I’ve been working in this department for nearly 10 years, I’m now learning even more in my new position,” said Simpson, who is an active community volunteer supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters, United Way, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Salvation Army and more. “I’m enjoying the challenge and appreciate LPEA’s policy of filling positions from within. This is a great opportunity.”
LPEA, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative established in 1939, provides to its more than 30,000 members, with in excess of 42,000 meters, safe, reliable electricity at the lowest reasonable cost, while being environmentally responsible.
