The La Plata Electric Round Up Foundation was established to oversee the allocation of LPEA charitable grants. Its mission is to advance and support causes within LPEA's service territory to improve the quality of life in our community.
Round Up Community Impact Grants
In 1996, the LPEA Board adopted the Round Up community service program, which allows members to round their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar. The difference is then donated to local nonprofits in La Plata and Archuleta counties. Many members also choose to participate in Round Up Plus, adding an extra amount each month to further benefit nonprofit organizations. Since its launch, these contributions have collectively generated over $1.3 million in support for the region.
A percentage of Round Up funds is also distributed to the Community Emergency Assistance Coalition and the Pagosa Outreach Connection to provide families and individuals with emergency assistance funds.
Educational Grants
LPEA uses unclaimed Capital Credits to provide funding for educational projects within our service territory.
