Stopping Your Service? Have a Plan for Your Capital Credits.
Your capital credits remain on LPEA's financial records in your name until they are retired. Capital Credit retirements to your account will continue to be made until the balance is fully paid out, typically over a period of up to 25 years.
It is your responsibility to notify LPEA of any changes tin address, so you can be located when it is time to retire Capital Credits. Capital Credit checks that are returned with no forwarding address information will be held for three years. If not claimed, the funds are used for educational or charitable purposes as determined by the LPEA Board of Directors, as outlined in our Bylaws. Unclaimed Capital Credit funds support LPEA's scholarship and grant programs and contribute to educational and non-profit community projects in La Plata and Archuleta counties.
