LPEA funds annual scholarships for high school graduating students or equivalent, including GED graduates, within our service territory with Unclaimed Capital Credits as per Policy 302. Applications are due March 1, 2021.

LPEA Scholarship

LPEA will award two, four-year scholarships for students attending any college or university in the U.S. beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year. The LPEA Scholarship covers tuition, books, and fees (at $7,000/year over four years) given the students maintain minimum qualifications.

The application deadline is March 1, 2021, and the application consists of:

  • LPEA scholarship application form (see below for link) 
  • Essay
  • High school transcript (or equivalent) 
  • SAT/ACT scores
  • Honors and/or extracurricular activities list
  • Reference letter(s)

*Incomplete applications will not be considered.

LPEA/John Voelker Memorial Scholarship

LPEA will award two, two-year John Voelker Memorial Scholarships for students attending any accredited vocational school, technical school, or community college in the U.S. beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year. This scholarship covers tuition, books and fees, and supplies (at $5,000/year over two years) given the students maintain minimum qualifications.

The application deadline is March 1, 2021, and the application consists of:

  • LPEA scholarship application form (see below for link) 
  • Essay
  • High school transcript (or equivalent) 
  • SAT/ACT scores
  • Honors and/or extracurricular activities list
  • Reference letter(s)

*Incomplete applications will not be considered.

LPEA/John Voelker Memorial Scholarship Application Form

LPEA Lineman Scholarship

LPEA will award two, one-year scholarships to two students attending an accredited institution, including a vocational school, technical school, community college, or university in the U.S. majoring in an electrical lineworker program.

This one-year scholarship ($12,000) covers tuition, books, fees, and supplies given the students maintain minimum qualifications. Any scholarship overage, following payment of tuition and fees, can be applied to the purchase of tools and supplies required in the trade.

The application deadline is March 1, 2021, and the application consists of:

  • LPEA scholarship application form (see below for link) 
  • Essay
  • High school transcript (or equivalent) 
  • Honors and/or extracurricular activities list
  • Reference letter(s)

Basin Electric Scholarship

Basin Electric Power Cooperative, a generation cooperative affiliated with LPEA, offers one non-renewable $1,000 scholarship for students attending any college or university in the U.S. for the 2021-2022 academic year.

The application deadline is March 1, 2021, and the application consists of:

  • LPEA scholarship application form (see below for link) 
  • Essay
  • High school transcript (or equivalent) 
  • Honors and/or extracurricular activities list
  • Reference letter(s)

Basin Electric Scholarship Application Form

Tri-State Generation & Transmission Scholarship

LPEA's power supplier, Tri-State Generation & Transmission, Inc. offers two, one-time $500 scholarships for students attending any college or university in the U.S. beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year.

The application deadline is March 1, 2021, and the application consists of:

  • LPEA scholarship application form (see below for link) 
  • Essay
  • High school transcript (or equivalent) 
  • Honors and/or extracurricular activities list
  • Reference letter(s)

Rocky Mountain Electrical League Scholarship

Rocky Mountain Electrical League (RMEL) offers RMEL Foundation Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 to the college of student's choice. Application deadline is February 26, 2021.
