We have sold our stake in regional internet provider FastTrack Communications to Clearnetworx, a Colorado-based broadband company. The sale aims to accelerate the expansion of high-speed fiber internet access across our southwest Colorado service area. 

Clearnetworx, headquartered in Montrose, has provided broadband services to rural western slope communities since 2012. This year the company began constructing fiber-to-the-home networks offering gigabit speeds in Durango, Bayfield and Cortez.

"FastTrack and Clearnetworx have had a long relationship and great collaboration,” said Clearnetworx’s President Doug Seacat. “Our groups share a focus on local support and how fiber internet can create impact within the communities we live in. We’re excited to continue those efforts through this partnership as we bring fiber internet services to communities and rural areas across southwest Colorado." 

Access to fast, reliable and affordable internet has been a longstanding problem for rural areas in our service territory. When the COVID-19 crisis hit, the lack of connectivity for remote work and schooling was glaring. Expanding broadband has since become a top priority for us.

Our Board of Directors set a goal to enable broadband access for all members by 2030 without raising electric rates. The FastTrack sale and new Clearnetworx partnership are key steps toward making that vision a reality.
