Budget billing, from La Plata Electric Association, Inc. (LPEA), helps you avoid seasonal highs and lows with an even monthly payment.
If you have at least one year of billing history for a service address, you can sign up to average your LPEA electric billing into equal monthly payments. Your monthly electric use is averaged, and you pay this monthly average for eleven months. Your LPEA electric meter is still read as usual, and the twelfth month is used as an adjuster (you will pay more-or-less than the previous eleven months) to compensate for the actual amount of electricity used during the year.
The only time you must reconcile your account is when you leave the La Plata Electric Association, Inc. system, or when you decide you no longer want to participate in the LPEA Budget Billing Plan.
Q. How do I qualify for Budget Billing?
A. You can participate in Budget Billing if you meet the following simple requirements:
- You must have an acceptable credit history.
- You must keep your Budget Billing account current.
Q. How much does it cost to participate?
A. Budget Billing is free. There are no sign-up charges or monthly fees. All you need to do is keep your account current.
What's more, your La Plata Electric Association, Inc. bill will show you the number of kilowatt hours of electricity you use each month, so you can track your energy use.
