It's a beautiful thing to watch the seeds you've planted grow and flourish. We are not just talking about our beautiful Colorado landscapes but also about the future leaders we're nurturing right here at LPEA. One of the most rewarding parts of our mission is investing in the youth of our community. Why? Because they're the architects of our future and have the energy, creativity, and potential to build something extraordinary. Our young people are like renewable resources of hope and innovation, and it's our job to ensure they're empowered. This brings us to a story that we are bursting at the seams to share with you – the journey of Ethan McGuinness.

Ethan McGuinness: A Leader in the Making

From the moment Ethan stepped into our Youth Tour program, he was clearly going places. We sponsored Ethan to attend the Youth Tour in Washington, D.C., an experience that's less about sightseeing and more about diving deep into the democratic process, engaging with leaders, and networking with peers from all over the United States. It was an opportunity for Ethan to see the bigger picture, to understand his potential role in shaping the future, and, importantly, to see how he could contribute to our community and beyond. Our support for Ethan reflected our faith in our youth's power to lead and inspire change.

From Washington D.C. to Colorado: A Leader Emerges

Ethan's adventure in D.C. was just the beginning. His experiences there, learning about governance, energy, and community service, have significantly shaped his path. But it wasn't just about what Ethan took from this experience; it was also about what he brought back to our community – a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities we face, especially in the realm of energy.

Ethan's journey continued to the NRECA PowerXchange Annual Meeting in San Antonio, TX, which brought together the brightest minds in rural electric cooperatives. Thanks to LPEA's support, Ethan had a front-row seat to discussions on sustainable energy solutions and the future of rural electrification. This experience wasn't just educational for Ethan; it was transformative, offering him unparalleled insights into the industry we're so passionate about.

“Before I went to Washington, DC, and San Antonio, I was considering a career path in the field of Computer Science. But having now experienced the incredible city of DC and all that politics has to offer, I have shifted my career focus to that of Political Science – hopefully working in an electric co-op representing rural voices,” explained Ethan.

The Ripple Effect of Supporting Youth Leadership

Seeing Ethan selected as the 2023-24 Colorado Youth Leadership Council Representative for the NRECA was a proud moment for LPEA. It affirmed our commitment to youth development and showcased the significant impact of supporting young leaders. Ethan's achievements are a beacon, highlighting the importance of providing our youth with opportunities to learn, grow, and lead.

Our Collective Journey Forward

Sharing Ethan's story is more than just celebrating his success; it's about inspiring our community to continue supporting our young people. Ethan's journey from the LPEA Youth Tour to becoming a voice for Colorado on a national stage exemplifies the powerful outcomes we can achieve when we come together to back the next generation.

Our dedication to youth development isn't just about creating opportunities; it's about building a brighter, more sustainable future together. As we cheer on Ethan and young leaders like him, we're reminded of the incredible potential within our community to effect change, innovate, and lead with compassion and commitment.

So here's to Ethan, to every young leader we've had the pleasure of supporting, and to our LPEA community for making these opportunities possible. Let's continue to light the way for our youth, nurturing their growth and watching in awe as they turn their potential into action.

Thanks for sharing this journey with us. Here's to many more stories of inspiration, growth, and community impact.
