LPEA Empowers Local Students with Generous 2024 Scholarships

We are proud to announce our 2024 scholarship program, offering nine exciting opportunities for graduating high school seniors, including GED graduates, within our service territory. Scholarships range in value from $500 to an impressive $28,000, making higher education dreams more attainable for our community's youth. The application deadline is March 1, 2024. 

Rio Edmondson, the 2023 LPEA Scholarship Winner, shared their excitement, saying, "I am thrilled and honored to have received the LPEA Scholarship, which allowed me to attend an institution I may not have otherwise been able to attend. I am very grateful for this opportunity and for the support of my local community."

Scholarship Details: 

  • LPEA Scholarship (2): LPEA will award two four-year scholarships for students attending any college or university in the U.S. starting in the 2024-2025 academic year. The LPEA Scholarship covers tuition, books, and fees, with a total value of $7,000 per year for four years, provided that students meet the minimum qualifications. 
  • LPEA/John Voelker Memorial Scholarship (2): LPEA will award two two-year scholarships for students attending any accredited vocational school, technical school, junior college or university in the U.S. starting in the 2024-2025 academic year. This scholarship covers tuition, books, fees, and supplies, totaling $5,000 annually for two years, contingent on meeting minimum qualifications. 
  • LPEA Lineworker Scholarship (2): LPEA will award two one-year scholarships to students majoring in an electrical lineworker program at any accredited institution in the U.S. This one-year scholarship, valued at $12,000, covers tuition, books, fees, and supplies, provided that students maintain minimum qualifications. 
  • Gary Hubbs Special Memorial Scholarship (1): In honor of Gary Hubbs, who dedicated 25 years to LPEA as a lineman, a special one-time scholarship is available. The recipient will receive $4,100 for tuition, fees, and books for one year of training at an electrical lineworker school. 
  • Tri-State Scholarship (2): LPEA's power supplier, Tri-State Generation & Transmission, Inc., is offering two one-time $500 scholarships for students enrolling in any college or university in the U.S. in the 2024-2025 academic year. 

Funds for the LPEA, LPEA/John Voelker Memorial, and Lineman scholarships come from LPEA's Unclaimed Capital Credit funds. The Tri-State Scholarship is funded by LPEA's power provider, Tri-State Generation & Transmission, Inc. Personal donations and a matching contribution from LPEA funded the Gary Hubbs Memorial Scholarship.
