We are proud to announce the 2025 impact of our Round Up Foundation, highlighting another year of strong member participation and meaningful community investment. Through the voluntary Round Up program, LPEA members round their electric bills up to the nearest dollar, pooling small monthly contributions to fund grants that strengthen local nonprofits and provide critical support across the region.
In 2025, the Round Up Foundation distributed $153,500 to 63 nonprofit organizations serving La Plata and Archuleta counties. With the support of 16,481 participating LPEA members, 36 organizations received a combined $90,226 in Round Up Community Impact grants, strengthening education and youth programs, expanding food and emergency assistance, supporting arts and culture, advancing environmental stewardship and outdoor recreation, and delivering essential health, human, animal welfare, and veteran services across the region.
Registered nonprofits in La Plata and Archuleta counties may apply for up to $3,000 per grant cycle. Applications and eligibility details are available at lpea.coop/round.
LPEA members can enroll in Round Up through SmartHub or at lpea.coop/round-foundation. On average, members contribute about $7 per year — small change that adds up to significant local impact, with more than $2.5 million invested in area nonprofits over the past 30 years. In celebration of the Round Up Foundation’s 30th anniversary, members are invited to participate in the $30 for 30 Years campaign by making a one-time $30 Round Up Plus contribution to further expand support for the organizations our communities rely on.
“The Round Up program is a powerful example of cooperative impact in action,” said Carrie Hugus, Community Outreach Specialist at LPEA. “When thousands of members each contribute just a few cents a month, it translates into real resources for local nonprofits doing essential work. As we mark 30 years of Round Up, we’re proud of what our members have accomplished together — and we're excited to build on that momentum.”
