JANUARY 6TH – 11:45 AM UPDATE

As temperatures rise today, snow and ice will continue to melt from overhead power lines and drop to the ground, causing lines to "gallop" and cause outages. Crews will remain on alert and continue working until all outages are restored. We currently have six outages impacting 68 members. Get the latest updates on our outage map here: http://outage.lpea.coop/

JANUARY 3RD – 8:30 AM UPDATE

Scattered outages occurred all day yesterday as snow unloaded from overhead powerlines. With the snowfall, we expect to see more outages today. Operations are monitoring the situation closely, and crews continue to be in the field. Get the latest updates on our outage map here: http://outage.lpea.coop/

JANUARY 2ND - 8:30 AM UPDATE

Crews were in the field until 5:00 AM, when power was restored to all LPEA members. Thanks to our heroes without capes! Since then, we've had a few smaller outages pop up. We currently have eight outages impacting 128 members. We expect to see more outages today as temperatures warm and snow sheds from overhead power lines. Get the latest updates on our outage map here: http://outage.lpea.coop/

JANUARY 1ST - 8:40 PM UPDATE

LPEA crews continue to play Whac-A-Mole with outages. As soon as they fix one, two others pop up. We currently have 2,000 members out of power due to 31 separate outages. Again, we predict this will continue into the evening and morning.

This will be our last outage update tonight. We will resume in the morning if needed, but LPEA crews will remain in the field through the night until all are restored. Stay safe and dry out there! Get the latest updates on our outage map here: http://outage.lpea.coop/

JANUARY 1ST - 7:20 PM UPDATE

The Purgatory/Cascade outage has been restored. We now have nine smaller outages impacting 163 members. Get the latest updates on our outage map here: http://outage.lpea.coop/

JANUARY 1ST - 6:17 PM UPDATE

We now have nine active outages impacting 2,508 members in the Purgatory/Cascade, Bayfield, and Vallecito areas. Crews are en route. Get the latest updates on our outage map here: http://outage.lpea.coop/

JANUARY 1ST - 5:50 PM UPDATE

Heavy, wet snow is causing widespread outages across LPEA's service territory. We currently have seven outages impacting 1,536 members, and we expect more outages throughout the evening and morning while the snow continues. LPEA crews are fully deployed and will work until all power is restored.

We know it is frustrating and scary to be without power, especially in the winter. We also know it is frustrating not to know how long the outage will last. Unfortunately, LPEA cannot give estimated restoration times because crews don't know the issue until they arrive at each outage location, and restoration times vary widely depending on the cause (e.g., a broken pole vs. an open circuit from lines unloading snow). As a general rule of thumb, we start with the largest outages and work our way down to individual homes.

Though we do our best, no utility company is able to guarantee 100% service. As such, we encourage you to prepare for when the lights do go out. Here are some PRO TIPS to help you weather any LPEA outage.

We apologize for any inconvenience this outage may cause. If you have not already, make sure you are signed up for LPEA's Outage Texting Service to report future outages and receive service restoration updates direct to your mobile phone.
