Resilience is our priority

When it comes to safeguarding our community from the devastating effects of wildfires, LPEA takes the lead. We are proud to present our comprehensive Fire Mitigation and Vegetation Management program, designed to protect our homes, neighborhoods, and landscapes from the ever-present threat of wildfires.

Living amidst the awe-inspiring natural beauty of our region is a privilege, but it also comes with a responsibility to ensure the safety of our loved ones and our surroundings. That's why LPEA is committed to going above and beyond to mitigate the risk and impact of wildfires through proactive measures.

LPEA and Fire Mitigation

LPEA’s primary goal in our comprehensive fire mitigation plan is to create a resilient electric system that can withstand the impact of wildfires and minimize service interruptions. We work closely with local, state, and federal agencies and community organizations to develop our plans.

We conduct regular inspections and maintenance of power lines and equipment. We identify potential fire hazards, such as vegetation encroachment, damaged equipment, or faulty electrical connections, and promptly address them. By implementing these preventive measures, we reduce the chances of electrical equipment igniting or contributing to the spread of wildfires. Read more about how we mitigate the risk of wildfires.

LPEA and Vegetation Management

One of the critical aspects of fire mitigation is managing vegetation near power lines and infrastructure. Trees and shrubs growing too close to power lines pose a significant fire risk during dry and windy conditions.

LPEA's vegetation management program includes regular inspections, tree trimming, and selective removal of vegetation that could potentially endanger power lines. We take a proactive approach striking a balance between safety and environmental stewardship by following best practices and guidelines established by regulatory agencies. Our trained professionals use specialized equipment and techniques to carefully prune and remove trees while minimizing the impact on the surrounding ecosystem.

Engaging Our Members in the Process

At LPEA, we believe that safeguarding our community from wildfires requires a collective effort. We actively engage our members and encourage their participation in fire mitigation and vegetation management initiatives. Through educational programs, workshops, and outreach events, we provide valuable information on fire safety, prevention, and the importance of maintaining defensible spaces around homes. We also collaborate with local fire departments, emergency management agencies, and homeowner associations to enhance fire preparedness and response capabilities.

Through proactive measures, including regular inspections, equipment maintenance, and vegetation management, we strive to minimize fire risks and safeguard our members and our backyard. Read more about how you can help
